Google Adsense recommends a free feature you can use to track your Adsense ads performance.
It’s called Channels.
With this free feature, you can track which webpages contribute most of your Adsense revenue. You can also track your ads performance based on their types, colours, placements, keywords and on all the categories you specify.
Here’s how to do it…
First of all, Google Adsense offers 2 kinds of Channels:
1. URL Channels
2. Custom Channels
URL Channels
You can use this to track the performance of your webpages. All you have to do is type in your URLs in the Adsense code and Google will track the performance of those specific pages.
If you type in http://yourdomain.com then they will track all of the pages on that domain.
You might want to see the performance of:
http://yourdomain.com/index.html
http://yourdomain.com/articles.html
and so on…
Custom Channels
This is what I like most.
Custom Channels lets you track your Adsense ads with all the criterias you specify.
Let’s make it easier with examples…
Say you want to know which is best to put on your Homepage.
First you want to put on as a test and see what will happen:
Text Link (4 Links – 728) - Title Colour = blue
Large Rectangle (336 x 280) - Title Colour = green (blend with your site)
Banner (468 x 60) - Title Colour = green
You might want to put the Text Link at the very top, Banner right above your first article and Large Rectangle below the article.
Then you should create these Custom Channels for them:
homepage-textlink4-728-blue-top
homepage-larec336-green-bottom
homepage-banner468-green-top
Duplicate these steps for all of your most visited pages, because the results can vary for each pages. What’s working wonderful on your Homepage can be awful for your other pages…
Good luck with your Adsense empire!
